Laser Tinnitus Treatment
Laser Tinnitus Treatment is a relatively new technique for treating tinitus. In involves a painless procedure that uses low power lasers: LLLT - low level laser therapy, also known as cold laser. LLLT emits no heat, vibration or sound. It is proposed that its main therapeutic effects are increased ATP production, increased serotonin and endorphin levels, increased anti-inflammatory effects and improved blood flow through the targeted area. Reports have shown that LLLT can improve or allow total recovery from tinnitus.
There are two main types of tinnitus laser treatment:
- Self-treatment - TinniTool EarLaser. This is a relatively small device that you can wear at home or at work without needing to consult a specialist, selling for around 330EUR
- Specialist treatment, carried out by an audiologist, usually using different lasers of different wavelengths combined with medication, vitamins or other food supplements
Clinical trials have shown, that in certain cases tinnitus laser treatment has a total reduction rate of 26% in the case of specialist treatments (trials made on groups of 31 and 200 patients) complemented with medication and rehab physiotherapy aimed at axial skeleton.
